Fragrance house
Sol de Janeiro
Sol de Janeiro was founded in the United States in 2015 by Heela Yang, Camila Pierotti, and Marc Capra. The founders developed the brand around Brazilian beach culture and an inclusive approach to beauty focused on feeling comfortable and happy in one’s own skin. Its first product line, launched in April 2015, included Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, which became Sephora’s top-selling skincare cream within four months and was later described as the product that rapidly made the brand famous. The cream’s scent became the starting point for Sol de Janeiro’s fragrance line: in 2017, the brand introduced five lightweight fragrance mists, including Cheirosa 62, which reproduces the cream’s scent. Cheirosa 62 is the fragrance most directly associated with Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. Sol de Janeiro’s public identity combines Brazilian summer and Rio de Janeiro references with body acceptance, self-celebration, and joyful self-care. In 2024, the brand introduced a revised visual identity inspired by Brazilian heritage, including a redesigned logo and graphic system.
