Sonia Sieff

Sonia Sieff is a French photographer and filmmaker whose work focuses on light, personality, the body, portraits, and nudes. Her photographic vocation began at 17, followed by work on film sets before she moved into fashion photography and personal projects. Her first book, Les Françaises, appeared in 2017 and explored the female nude from her personal perspective. In Rendez-vous!, Sieff turned to the male nude, bringing together images of about fifty men photographed across Europe and Africa while examining changing perceptions of masculinity and gender. The project also became the source of a fragrance initiative introduced as an olfactory extension of the book’s treatment of skin, bodies, and intimacy. Created with perfumer Antoine Lie, Rendez-vous! is framed around reversed gender roles, sensuality, and the meeting of masculine and feminine, with a floral, incandescent olfactory profile.
