SoOud
SoOud was established in 2010 by Stéphane Humbert Lucas in collaboration with fragrance wholesaler Intertrade Europe, and launched in the United Kingdom at Selfridges that October. Its first collection comprised eight fragrances, including Hajj, Burqa, Fam, al Jana, Ouris, Nùr, Kanz, and Asmar. The brand’s creative concept brings together Middle Eastern or Oriental perfumery with French and contemporary Western design sensibility. Oud serves as both a central material and a cultural reference: the original collection was presented as capturing the Arabian East, with four of its eight fragrances incorporating oud. Lucas is associated with SoOud’s creation and is identified in its official presentation as a painter, poet, and perfumer. The brand presents its fragrances in two formats, Eau Fine and Nektar, distinguished by concentration and bottle design. Later documented releases included Fatena in 2013, Ilham and Jadab in 2014, and Jamil in 2016.
