Sothys

Sothys was founded in Paris in 1946 by Dr. Max Hotz, a physician specializing in medical biology, and began as a beauty institute on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Its early identity grew around professional beauty treatments and formulas created under Hotz. In 1966, the Mas family acquired or took over the institute and cosmetic formulas; Bernard Mas subsequently developed the French-based business into an international professional skincare brand. The creation of a training school in 1978 reinforced its professional-treatment model. Today, Sothys remains family-led under the Mas family, with a public identity centered on professional cosmetics and treatments delivered through beauty institutes and spas, alongside scientific research, sensory experience, and French heritage. Its identity also connects Paris, home to its institute and international training presence, with Corrèze, the family’s regional base and a source of botanical inspiration. Les Jardins Sothys was created in Auriac, Corrèze, in 2006.
