St. Clair Scents
St. Clair Scents was launched by Diane St. Clair after she trained in perfumery with Eliza Douglas, beginning with three perfumes. Based on her farm in Vermont’s Champlain Valley, the brand draws on a setting St. Clair identifies as a catalyst for her perfume work. Before turning to perfumery, she worked in public health and ran an artisanal dairy farm and creamery whose products were supplied to fine-dining establishments; after 25 years, she sold that business in 2022 and continues to use the farm as inspiration. St. Clair is the brand’s perfumer, making her own unisex formulas and perfumes in small batches. The house presents its fragrances as wearable art, often pairing them with visual art made in response to the scents, and describes them as inspired by stories, the natural environment, and emotionally compelling concepts. Its fragrance work includes Gardener’s Glove, a 2019 Artisan Category finalist in the Art and Olfaction Awards, and Blue Marble, a 2025 finalist whose concept addresses the beauty, complexity, and fragility of Earth’s interconnected systems.
