Star Wars
Star Wars began with George Lucas’s written and directed film Star Wars: A New Hope, released in 1977. The film became a worldwide phenomenon and, by 1978, its consumer-product and publishing campaigns had extended the licensing model beyond the movie itself. Disney announced its agreement to acquire Lucasfilm on October 30, 2012, and completed the acquisition on December 21, including the Star Wars franchise. Following the acquisition, Lucasfilm expanded Star Wars storytelling across feature films, live-action and animated series, games, books, comics, and immersive experiences, including The Force Awakens in 2015, Rogue One in 2016, and The Mandalorian, its first live-action Star Wars series, in 2019. In fragrance, a 2016 Lifestyle Perfumes collection translated Star Wars characters into the lightsaber-inspired Empire and Jedi colognes and Amidala perfume; in 2026, Bath & Body Works launched its first Star Wars-inspired collaboration around The Mandalorian and Grogu, with Force Flow and Bounty Hunter scents.
