Stendhal
Created in Paris in 1946 by chemist Roger Thirion, Stendhal began with Le Noir mascara and later opened its first institute on Rue Royale. Its early identity took shape through cosmetic formulation: Epithelium, introduced in 1950, was the house’s first anti-aging treatment in vials, followed by the botanical-extract Sanseverina range in 1966 and Bio Program in 1980, described as the first hypoallergenic range sold in perfumeries. Pur Luxe, launched in 2001, extended this skincare focus into a premium line. In 2020, Stendhal presented a renewed direction built around science, nature, high-tech formulation, and environmental considerations while retaining its historical identity and know-how. Today, the French beauty house spans skincare, makeup, and perfumes, with products framed around efficacy, natural qualities, skin respect, and a sensorial routine. Its fragrance portfolio began with Elixir Noir, launched in 2009.
