Stila

Stila is a cosmetics brand founded in 1994 by makeup artist Jeanine Lobell, who envisioned a sophisticated yet accessible line for modern women. Its early approach emphasized easy-to-use formulas, natural-looking beauty, and a pro-women message, expressed through pared-down packaging, quotations, and illustrated “Stila girls.” Estée Lauder acquired the brand in August 1999, then sold certain Stila assets and operations in April 2006 to Stila Corp., an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners. Patriarch Partners acquired Stila in April 2009, and by 2024 ownership had moved to a consortium of financial institutions. Lobell left the company in 2004, ending her direct involvement in its creative development. Stila now presents its identity through performance, creativity, makeup-artist heritage, self-expression, and versatile multi-use products. Its Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, launched in 2009, is identified as a cult classic, award-winning product, and brand icon.
