Strega del Castello

Strega del Castello was created by sisters Giovanna, Emanuela, and Caterina Roncati, while its family history traces back to a Roncati chemist’s shop or pharmacy established in Genoa at the beginning of the 20th century. During the latter part of the 20th century, Giancarlo “Gingi” Roncati developed perfumes and passed his perfume-making knowledge to his daughter Caterina, now the brand’s principal creative perfumer. Its nose-made approach translates memories and olfactory archetypes into fragrances through inherited artisanal knowledge. In 2019, Caterina Roncati was presented at Bologna’s Smell Festival as the creator of fragrances inspired by a Cristina Caboni novel and actor Elena Sofia Ricci’s personal fragrance; Ricci’s ES scent was recreated after a year of research from memories of essential oils and perfumed talc. In October 2022, Roncati collaborated with Arrital to create Alma, the kitchen company’s olfactory signature. The current terms identify Strega del Castello as belonging to Farmacia del Castello di Giovanna Roncati. Acqua de le Colonie expresses the historic Republic of Genoa and its colonial cultural influences through scent.
