Superdrug
Superdrug was incorporated on 28 May 1964, with brothers Ronald and Peter Goldstein identified as its founders. Today it is a UK health and beauty retailer whose stated purpose centers on accessible beauty and healthcare. Ownership changed in 1988, when Woolworth’s Holdings acquired the business, and again in 2001, when Kingfisher sold it to the Dutch Kruidvat Group. In 2002, A.S. Watson acquired the Kruidvat Group, bringing Superdrug into its portfolio; A.S. Watson remains its parent group. Superdrug marked its 60th anniversary in 2024, commemorating six decades of beauty and healthcare retail in the UK. Its fragrance activity is retail-led rather than built around a single signature perfume: own-brand offerings include Artiscent perfumes and Layering Lab products intended to be combined into personalised scents. In 2022, the retailer also expanded its premium-fragrance offer with multiple external fragrance brands.
