Swank Inc
Swank Inc traces its corporate lineage to Attleboro Manufacturing Co., formed in Massachusetts in 1897 to produce women’s jewelry; the Swank name first appeared in advertising in 1927. Its wholesalers formed Swank Products, Inc. in 1936, and the company adopted the name Swank, Inc. in 1941. After World War II, Swank evolved beyond men’s jewelry into leather goods, gifts, and fragrances, including scents marketed under the Royal Copenhagen name. Its fragrance business included Jade East, launched in 1964, and Jade East Gold, introduced around 1966 in association with Regency Cosmetics. A 1966 trade account described Jade East as one of the best-selling men’s fragrances and reported an immediate response to its television-led launch in several U.S. markets. Swank sold the Royal Copenhagen fragrance line in 1992. On May 17, 2012, Randa Accessories completed its acquisition of Swank, making it a wholly owned subsidiary; at that point, Swank was described primarily as a seller and distributor of belts, leather accessories, suspenders, and jewelry.
