Tan Giudicelli
Tan Giudicelli was a French designer and perfumer, born in Indochina in 1934 to a Vietnamese mother and Corsican father. After moving to Paris around 1956, he worked for Christian Dior, Nina Ricci, Jacques Heim and Chloé, joining Chloé’s youthful ready-to-wear team in 1962. In late 1967 he became head designer at St Tropez label MicMac, broadening its beachwear and sportswear into ready-to-wear. A 1970 contract established a ready-to-wear line under his own name, and after leaving MicMac in January 1975 he concentrated on his own label, documented from the early 1970s and dated as a formally established label to 1984. Its identity combined his Asian background, French training and interest in American-influenced casual clothing across fashion, accessories, jewelry and fragrance. He also designed costumes for the 1975 film Histoire d’O. Giudicelli ended his fashion house in 1988 and later worked with Hermès until 2012. He died in April 2024, aged 90.
