Tauer Perfumes
Tauer Perfumes was founded in Zurich in 2005 by Andy Tauer, a chemist by training and self-taught perfumer, and began as a one-person operation. Tauer’s path into independent perfumery led from information technology and science, with the brand developing outside the mass-market fragrance industry. Its creative identity centers on personal, artistic perfume-making, with each scent conceived as a fragrant sculpture. In 2006, Tauer began sharing his perfumery process through a blog, making direct communication with the fragrance community part of the brand’s public identity. The venture marked its twentieth anniversary in 2025, and in July that year Tauer announced that selected ideas from the separate Tauerville venture would be brought back under the Tauer Perfumes name through the Absolue line. L’Air du Désert Marocain, launched in 2005 as Tauer’s second fragrance, received a five-star review from critic Luca Turin and has been described as a classic.
