Fragrance house
TerraNova
TerraNova traces its origins to Jane Saunders’s original Body Shop, founded in Berkeley, California, in 1970. The business began with botanical personal-care products and fresh scents, then grew within two years from its Berkeley shop into six San Francisco Bay Area stores and a national wholesale operation. It was renamed Terranova after a British company purchased its trademark, and Jane Saunders’s daughters, Ann Saunders Gordon and Kathy Saunders, later carried on the business as a bath-and-body-care and fragrance company. After roughly five decades, Ann and Kathy announced their retirement, while Terranova fragrances remained available through retailers and wholesalers. TerraNova is especially associated with the signature scents China Rain, China Musk, Rain, and Pikake.
