The Beauty Crop
The Beauty Crop Limited was incorporated in the United Kingdom on 27 October 2014. Founder Ning Cheah began the brand after working in investment banking and struggling to find playful, clean beauty products that would not worsen her eczema; its first sale followed in January 2015. With a background in chemical engineering, Cheah developed the brand from a one-bedroom apartment, focusing on plant-based actives and skin-benefiting cosmetic formulas. The Beauty Crop combines ingredient-first, skincare-oriented products with playful, inclusive presentation rather than clinical or beige beauty aesthetics. Its community participates in product testing, formulation feedback, social polling, and events. The company has been bootstrapped from the outset, with Cheah retaining her shares through profitability and cash-flow management. Dated milestones include the August 2021 launch of Oui Cherie Mist and Primer, the February 2022 TikTok Shop launch, the introduction of its first SPF product in May 2023, and its July 2024 in-store debut at Boots.
