Fragrance house
The Perfume Sanctuary
The Perfume Sanctuary is a Thai fragrance house founded by filmmaker Anucha Boonyawatana and named for the vintage-perfume museum from which it emerged. Boonyawatana is the brand’s principal creative figure, drawing on filmmaking and personal memories to shape its fragrances; she also handles the creative formulation work herself, including assembling and blending the concentrate. The house pairs classic perfume structures associated with vintage perfumery with contemporary gourmand, liquor-like, and tea facets. Its first creation took inspiration from Boonyawatana’s film The Blue Hour and required more than 300 trials. The brand also translates its films into fragrance concepts: Not Me Not You But Everyone draws on a story about rebellious adolescents confronting injustice, and was described as the house’s bestseller and reported sold out at the time of coverage.
