The Perfumer's Workshop
The Perfumer's Workshop was formed in 1970 by Donald Bauchner and his wife, Gun Bauchner, and is privately owned and headquartered in New York. Its founding concept was large-scale custom blending: at a Bloomingdale’s counter, customers created individualized fragrances from essential oils. The company’s public identity took shape around making fragrance more personal and less formal, with simple presentation and customer participation as distinguishing features. It later carried this approach into appointment-based and personal-perfumery concepts associated with Harrods, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Nordstrom. William Skinner joined in 1985 as Creative Consulting Director and helped carry the custom-blending heritage into Amouroud, an oud-focused brand the company began developing in 2012 and launched in autumn 2013. Its initial four-fragrance Classic line launched in February 2016. Tea Rose is especially associated with The Perfumer's Workshop and is characterized as a direct, fresh rose-bouquet fragrance, making rose the clearest olfactory family linked with the brand.
