Thorn & Bloom
Thorn & Bloom launched in June 2015 as an artisanal perfumery focused on botanical fragrances. Jennifer Botto is the brand’s founder and perfumer. She developed Thorn & Bloom after finding natural perfumes insufficiently complex for her needs, with the aim of bridging aromatherapy-style natural perfume and synthetic luxury perfume. Her farm upbringing, nostalgia for natural environments, and training in Anya McCoy’s Natural Perfumery Course shaped the brand’s botanical approach. Thorn & Bloom’s creative philosophy places imperfection alongside beauty, allowing natural materials to retain distinctive nuances that can sometimes be an acquired taste. Its fragrances are blended by hand in small batches in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Bird of Paradise was a finalist in the Artisan category of the 2016 Art and Olfaction Awards, giving the young house early external recognition.
