Tola

Tola is an Emirati niche perfume house associated with Dubai, founded in 2010 by Emirati creator Dhaher Bin Dhaher. Its concept grew from perfume and incense practices shared by Dhaher’s mother and eldest sister, while its creative identity draws on his mother’s hand-mixed perfume oils and bakhoor, an incense tradition passed through generations. Dhaher developed Tola’s first collection with his eldest sister; a niece created the visual identity, and other nieces produced the fragrance illustrations. Before launch, the brand spent three years developing its concept, packaging and fragrances, with an initial public collection of six fragrances described in 2013. The name Tola, conceived in 2013, refers to an ancient unit of mass used for precious commodities, equivalent to 11.7 grams. That year, Tola had sold out in London while arrangements with Selfridges and a Paris niche perfume store were being finalized.
