Tommy Bahama

Established in August 1992, Tommy Bahama began as an island-inspired lifestyle brand focused on men’s tropical casual sportswear. Apparel entrepreneurs Bob Emfield, Tony Margolis, and Lucio Dalla Gasperina created the concept around a fictional character embodying an imagined, never-ending island weekend. The brand later extended beyond menswear into women’s fashion, swimwear, accessories, footwear, home furnishings, and hospitality. Its public identity centers on relaxed island living, expressed through “Make Life One Long Weekend” and the formulation “Inspire the World to Relax”; its current story also presents color, hand-drawn patterns, and hospitality as expressions of an escapist island setting. Following Oxford Industries’ acquisition of Tommy Bahama in 2003, Tommy Bahama Group was described as a wholly owned Oxford subsidiary. In fragrance, exotic fruits form a recurring signature, alongside tropical flowers and sea-spray or agave effects. Tommy Bahama for Her, launched in 2013, is identified as a signature fragrance.
