Tonatto
Tonatto Profumi is an Italian high-perfumery house based in Turin and founded in 2002. Its founder-generation perfumer, Laura Bosetti Tonatto, began professional perfume work in 1986, training in Cairo and Grasse before developing custom fragrances and historical-scent projects. Her art-based fragrance work included a 2005 Hermitage commission inspired by Caravaggio’s The Lute Player and a 2019 commission inspired by Francesco Melzi’s Flora. After changes within the company, ownership passed to the Tonatto family. From 2015 onward, new perfumes were issued under the Tonatto label, while Laura Tonatto represented the preceding heritage. Led by Diletta Tonatto, the house presents perfume as a means of connection and knowledge, combining haute-perfumery techniques with a slow-perfumery approach that emphasizes respect for raw materials and the time required to create a fragrance. Its current presentation includes a patented perfume-on-canvas format, using pleated paper to diffuse scent and record a color mark as the fragrance develops.
