Trish McEvoy
Trish McEvoy launched her namesake beauty brand in 1975 with a professional makeup-brush collection created to improve application. The business began with six hand-cut brushes reshaped from art-supply paintbrushes, reflecting an early emphasis on teaching technique and making professional methods more accessible. McEvoy and her husband, dermatologist Dr. Ronald Sherman, later opened one of the first U.S. medi-spas and developed skincare that connected dermatology with makeup. The brand’s practical approach also took shape in the Makeup Planner, a portable, refillable vanity organized around its Makeup Wardrobing system; a U.S. design patent application was filed in 1997 and published the following year. In 2012, Trish McEvoy Beauty debuted on HSN with product presentations and live teaching demonstrations. The founder-led company continues across makeup, skincare, brushes, organization tools, and fragrance, guided by McEvoy’s philosophy of confidence, simplicity, and intuitive application. Fragrance is presented as an emotional extension of beauty through Fragrance Wardrobing, a concept inspired partly by her grandmother’s perfumery. The No. 9 family, beginning with the original No. 9 and including Gold 9 and Sexy 9, is identified as a fan favorite.
