Tristano Onofri
Tristano Onofri is an Italian fashion designer based in Germany whose fashion house is identified as founded in 1968. After moving from Florence to Düsseldorf in 1972, Onofri presented his first prêt-à-porter collection there in 1979. A 2003 interview traces the label’s beginnings to an accessories collection shown at Düsseldorf’s Igedo fair and characterizes its fashion as classic, wearable, and feminine. In that interview, Onofri described his creative aim as enhancing women’s attractiveness while helping them feel comfortable and happy, alongside a preference for a home style that was simple and distinctive. The label’s fragrance history includes Tristano, a men’s fragrance launched in 1989 and described as an oriental fougère with woody and spicy elements. In the mid-1980s, Babor acquired the marketing license for a Tristano Onofri designer fragrance; after separating from Babor as licensor, Onofri worked with Beauty Concept and Beauty Design in 1993 on its manufacture, redesign, marketing, and distribution. In August 2010, his company entered insolvency proceedings, with Michael Bremen appointed as insolvency administrator.
