Fragrance house
United Scents of America
United Scents of America was created by Samantha Sherwin and Sasha Bertran, who met while working for a New Jersey fragrance distributor; its line launched in late 2011. Based in Hoboken, New Jersey, the brand built its concept around connecting fragrance with memories of a place, especially a home state, rather than with a celebrity or an impersonal fragrance story. Its first collection comprised five state-inspired scents—California, Florida, Texas, New York, and New Jersey—developed through interviews, questionnaires, focus groups, and visits to those states. By February 2013, Massachusetts had joined the range after development work with Massachusetts residents. The brand later extended its identity beyond state fragrances with Love Wins, launched around 2015 to celebrate marriage and commitment within its memory- and place-oriented story. New Jersey was the collection’s starting state and signature fragrance, designed to evoke summers at the shore through cotton candy, caramel, coconut, and fresh buttered popcorn associations.
