Universal Flowering

Universal Flowering is a fragrance brand based in Toronto, founded and perfumed by Courtney Rafuse, who has worked under the name since 2016. Self-taught in perfumery, Rafuse developed her practice through reading and chemical-safety classes without a formal mentor. The brand treats each perfume as a romantic extension of Rafuse, engaging with liminal experience, eroticism, and memory through a synesthetic approach. Universal Flowering has collaborated with visual artists, fashion designers, and novelists. On November 20, 2025, it introduced its two most recent perfumes, Étude in Black and Big Night, at Stele in New York.
