Urania

Urania is a London-based artisanal fragrance house presenting contemporary high perfumery through a gender-fluid, self-expressive lens. Launched in 2021 by Winder Ton, the brand draws on Ton’s scientific background and study of aromatic molecules, linking fragrance with questions of self-perception and identity. Its name invokes Urania, the celestial epithet of Aphrodite and the muse of astronomy, framing the house around heavenly love, curiosity, imagination, and free expression. The debut comprised three genderless fragrances—Queer Magic, Lance, and Mandorla—which established Urania’s focus on sexuality, identity, and challenging conventional masculine and feminine categories. A later fragrance, Self-Mythology, turns to personal narrative, self-elevation, and identity, and was launched through a creative collaboration involving fashion designer Patrick McDowell’s SS25 presentation.
