Fragrance house
V***** B****
Founded by Gianni Versace in Milan in 1978, Versace expresses its identity through freedom, fearless self-expression, Mediterranean values and Italian artisanship, balancing classicism with contemporary innovation. After Gianni Versace’s death in 1997, Donatella Versace led the house’s creative direction as it moved into the 21st century. The brand expanded from fashion into accessories, jewellery, watches, eyewear, fragrances and home furnishings. Ownership changed when Michael Kors Holdings, later renamed Capri Holdings, completed its acquisition in December 2018, followed by Prada Group’s completed acquisition from Capri on December 2, 2025. Versace’s fragrance history reaches back at least to Gianni Versace for Women in 1981. Eros, launched as an eau de toilette in 2012, developed into a family of men’s fragrances, while Bright Crystal, launched in 2006, has multiple sister scents.
