Fragrance house

Váhy

Váhy is an Australian fragrance house based in Melbourne that launched in 2020. Co-founded by Weatherlake and Macdonald, it describes itself as Australian made and owned. At its founding, the brand’s proposition was shaped by concern about limited disclosure of fragrance ingredients and a search for a natural alternative to conventional synthetic perfumes. Its creative process builds fragrance briefs around places, memories and desired emotions, then refines them with expert perfumers; its stated aesthetic emphasizes balance, restraint and natural materials. The name Váhy means “balance” in Czech, linking Kate Macdonald’s heritage to the brand’s visual and formulation principles. The brand evolved from fine fragrance into home fragrance, introducing room sprays in Ember Haze, Tarkine and Isle of Blanc. Ember Haze is described as Váhy’s number-one-selling scent and received gold in the best natural perfume category at the 2023 Clean + Conscious Awards, which was reported as the brand’s tenth award overall. Tarkine pays tribute to Tasmania’s Tarkine rainforest.
