Van De Zotte

Van De Zotte is a Dutch fragrance brand founded by Joeri Hottentot, who created its first perfume, MILLS, with graphic designer Ferry Zomerdijk in 2018. The project began as a luxury souvenir concept linked to Dutch windmills and developed into a fragrance brand centered on Dutch cultural heritage. Its perfumes are conceived as olfactory stories, giving wearers an experience of that heritage through scent, and are developed and produced in the Netherlands. After MILLS, Van De Zotte introduced POLDER in 2022, WILD in 2023, and WAD in 2024, connecting its themes with reclaimed land, Dutch forests, and the Wadden Sea. MILLS is the clearest foundational fragrance example, translating the spices, wood, jute, and craftsmanship associated with traditional Dutch windmills into scent. WAD, developed as a tribute to the Wadden Sea, received a Dutch Beauty Award in 2025 for the most innovative cosmetic product produced in the Netherlands.
