LC Waikiki was founded in France in 1988 by three French-origin partners and began as a wholesale label, initially drawing attention for its T-shirt and sweatshirt designs. Established and registered in Paris, its name joins “LC,” derived from Les Copains, meaning “friends” in French, with Waikiki, a reference to Waikiki Beach. In 1997, Tema Tekstil, connected to Turkey’s Taha Group, acquired the brand’s worldwide rights, making LC Waikiki Turkish-owned and leading to its development in Istanbul. Around 2000–2001, the business shifted from wholesale and dealership distribution toward a retailer identity built around company-operated stores. Today, LC Waikiki’s public identity is primarily that of a Turkish fashion and ready-to-wear brand rather than a fragrance house.
