Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston was born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey, and grew up in a musical family before beginning professional performances during the 1970s and early 1980s. Her 1987 album Whitney made her the first female artist to enter the Billboard album chart at No. 1, while she became the only artist to achieve seven consecutive No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits. In 1992, The Bodyguard marked her feature-film acting debut; its soundtrack won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and her recording of “I Will Always Love You” won Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female. After her death in 2012, the Estate of Whitney E. Houston was established and administered by executor Pat Houston. A 2019 partnership with Primary Wave expanded posthumous opportunities for Houston’s catalog, brand development, and name-and-likeness initiatives. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020. In November 2022, the estate and Primary Wave partnered with Scent Beauty and Firmenich to launch the Whitney Houston Signature Fragrance.
