Wild Spirit

Wild Spirit is an independently owned, female-co-founded fragrance brand associated with Woodstock, New York, and made in the United States. Founded by Joyce Lanigan and fashion photographer Russell James as a sister brand to Raw Spirit, it launched in 2018 with four fragrances: Spring Jasmine, Chill, Driftwood, and First Snow. Its identity emphasizes individuality and authenticity, inviting wearers to layer scents for mood, occasion, season, or personality. Its vegan, cruelty-free products contain natural essential oils and exclude parabens, sulphates, and dyes. Wild Spirit launched nationally at Walmart in July 2018, expanding from 2,800 to 4,000 stores the following year. In 2019, it reported winning an ICMAD Beauty Innovator Award and becoming a finalist for both the CEW Beauty Awards and the Fragrance Foundation Awards. Driftwood was identified as the brand’s bestseller, with First Snow also described as a strong seller. In 2021, Wild Spirit released Candy Heart, its first perfume collaboration, with influencer and photographer Hope Kauffman.
