Fragrance house
Yamamoto
Y's Co., Ltd. was established in 1972, and Yohji Yamamoto presented his eponymous brand in Paris in 1981. Its public creative identity is associated with rebellious, unconventional fashion, including black-centered collections, asymmetry, and silhouettes that create space between the body and clothing. In 2002, Yamamoto became creative director of Y-3, his collaboration with adidas. After Yohji Yamamoto Inc. filed for protection under Japan's Civil Rehabilitation Law in October 2009, Integral's special-purpose company acquired businesses, subsidiaries, and assets from the old company on 1 December and changed its name to Yohji Yamamoto Inc. The fragrance line began with YOHJI in 1996; six fragrances returned in a 2013 relaunch after a six-year gap. YOHJI is the origin of the perfume collection, while the current fragrance identity presents six distinct olfactory portraits through contrasts including masculine and feminine, restraint and intensity, and light and darkness.
