Yanbal

Founded in Peru in 1967 by Fernando Belmont, Yanbal took its name from his daughter Janine. The business began with direct selling and a party-plan approach in Peru, then expanded to Ecuador in 1977, Bolivia in 1978, and Colombia in 1979, where it also created a jewelry division. In 1982, it introduced the Unique brand in Peru and shifted its sales system toward multilevel selling and beauty parties. A 1988 separation of the Belmont brothers’ businesses left Fernando with Yanbal/Unique-Yanbal, while Eduardo founded Belcorp. Yanbal added makeup and fragrances in 1990, and in 1993 the group created Cosmo International Fragrances, where perfumers led by Marc Blaison developed fragrances for the brand. The company changed its logo and institutional visual identity in 2003. In 2011, Fernando transferred the executive presidency to his daughter Janine. Its current identity emphasizes Latin American origin, diversity, and empowerment through beauty, themes highlighted by the 2021 Hecho en Latinoamérica campaign. In fragrance, Cielo has been positioned since 1997 as its top-selling female fragrance, while OHM has built its position since 2000 as its leading men’s fragrance.
