Yanina Yakusheva

Founded in 2015 by Yanina Yakusheva, a Russian perfumer, doctor, and artist from Krasnodar, the eponymous brand emerged after she began studying perfumery ingredients in 2014, following work as a physician and dentist. From 2015 to 2019, its artistic perfumery projects combined fragrance with design, visual art, and conceptual storytelling. The brand presented fragrances alongside art concepts at The Scent exhibition in Dubai in 2018; that year, its Idol Gallery project portrayed Vladimir Lenin, Alexander McQueen, Marilyn Monroe, and Rudolf Nureyev through scent and visual art, followed by a solo exhibition in Paris in 2019. Its French phase was formalized as an international project founded in France in 2019. The brand treats perfume as an artistic object and a personified presence, with its French collection presenting imaginary people through personalities, biographies, and scent. The First paired fragrance with a breast-shaped fountain installation exploring maternal connection, human origins, and biology’s future relationship with technology. William and Aron were shortlisted for the 2020 FiFi Russian Fragrance Awards.
