Fragrance house
Yosh
Yosh Han began blending essential and perfume oils in 1994 and later apprenticed for two years at an aromatherapy store in Colorado. Her eponymous fragrance line launched in 2002, followed by the founding of YOSH in 2004; the company remains creatively led by Han, whose name incorporates a Chinese character meaning “fragrant.” The brand’s creative language combines internationally sourced ingredients with chakra energy and numerology, while its conceptual vocabulary draws on the French sentir, meaning “to feel and smell.” Its first collection, the 2004 Luxury Elements Collection, comprised six parfum extrait oils inspired by chakra energy; later milestones included the six-fragrance Evanescent eau de parfum series in 2010 and California Aromascapes in 2012. König won the Independent category of the inaugural Art and Olfaction Awards in 2014. In 2020, Yosh introduced a new Eau Fraiche line with Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Olivia Jan after Han’s laboratory was purchased by a larger global fragrance supplier, prompting material reformulation. Han’s work also extends into scent-based art and advocacy around intersectionality, decolonizing scent, and fragrance language.
