Zara
Zara traces its beginnings to 1963, when Amancio Ortega opened Confecciones GOA, a small dressmaking workshop. In 1975, he opened the first Zara store in A Coruña, Spain, marking the business’s move from textile making into retail. The brand initially offered women’s, men’s, and children’s fashion. Inditex was formed in 1985, bringing the group’s companies together under one corporate banner with Zara as its originating brand. Zara’s international expansion included Porto in 1988, New York in 1989, and Paris in 1990. During 2007–2017, it moved into online commerce alongside its physical retail. In 2025, Zara marked the 50th anniversary of its first store with a campaign directed by photographer Steven Meisel, featuring 50 models. Its fragrance portfolio includes Zara Emotions, an eight-fragrance collaboration with Jo Loves created by Jo Malone CBE in 2019. Red Temptation has been identified as a Zara bestseller, while Red Zara Temptation is presented as the original expression of the brand’s signature accord in a gourmand woody amber style.
