Zippo Fragrances
Zippo’s story began with Zippo Manufacturing Company, founded by George G. Blaisdell in 1932; its first pocket lighter followed in 1933. After Blaisdell’s death in 1978, his daughters Harriett B. Wick and Sarah B. Dorn inherited the business, which remains in its fourth generation of family ownership. Zippo later broadened its identity beyond lighters, acquiring W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company in 1993 and the Ronson and Ronsonol brands in February 2010, while diversifying into non-lighter categories. On June 3, 2020, it produced its 600 millionth lighter. Zippo Fragrances entered the market in 2010 with Zippo Original, the first Zippo fragrance for men, developed under a licensing agreement with Mavive. Its metallic packaging and concept reproduced recognizable Zippo lighter design codes, and contemporary trade coverage identifies Alexandra Monet as its perfumer.
